Day 11, Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis

This ended up as a 15.08 mile day. Another scorcher of a day and OMG did I mention this part of Spain has massive hills. 1,509 feet of elevation gain. It was also a day that I also walked a good bit on my own. We walked through yet another eucalyptus forest which is cool, and it did provide a good bit of shade that was really needed. Once you get out of the forest it's just a slog through small villages and towns along a combination of dirt trails and paved trails, up hill both ways, no shoes, in the sun. It was more messed up than a football bat. I would stop a few times to take pictures although there wasn't a ton to see. The breaks were mostly water breaks and potty breaks and what I like to call, dehydration collapse avoidance. I do make myself laugh at times. The last part of the day was through the outskirts of the town  of Caldas de Reis. Without the markers and yellow arrows to mark the route, you could easily get turned around in Caldas. The hotel was just off the trail and easy to find, assuming you didn't pass it and then stop to take "pretty pictures" from a bridge and then realize that you didn't pass the entrance by about 50 feet.

The hotel was kind of cool in fact, it had a pool that was fed by hot springs. And no I didn't take advantage of it. I took a shower, washed some socks and other essentials and took a nap. Oh and I probably wrote one of these blogs posts as well.

Dinner was at the hotel bar, they didn't start serving till 8:30, but I managed to get there at 8:00PM for a drink or two.  We had dinner under a canopy of grapevines, it was really cool actually. Two of the folks we met along the trail who were at other accommodations came to the hotel with us and we all had a nice no rush meal.  Then it was off to the rooms, pack up and get ready to hit the trail again, tomorrow we are headed to Padrón. Padrón would be the second to last time, after Padrón we would be headed to Santiago de Compostela. Our trek is almost over.

Until next time, stay outta trouble, and if you can't do that. Well you know, don't get caught.

Tim
